Book Spine Poetry Contest is Underway

April celebrates National Poetry Month and we think there’s no better way to get into the spirit than another fantastically fun library contest!    This time we want you to show your lyrical talents with our Book Spine Poetry contest.  What is Book Spine Poetry, you say?  It’s exactly what it sounds like… short poems created with the words and images on the spines of books.

Here’s how to enter:

  1. Create a poem using book spines. The poem can incorporate any element of the spine you like (color, text, whatever). Theme/length/format is entirely up to you.  If you need some inspiration, check out this site:
  2. Take a photo of your poem or bring us your stack of books (use library books or books from home)—we’ll have a display set up in the library to showcase your  skills!

Of course, each entry comes with the glowing pride of personal accomplishment and freedom of imagination.  As an added bonus, we will select two winners at the end of the month—choose your prize… movie tickets, iTunes/Amazon gift card, or a book of your choice.  Get creative! We can’t wait to see!

Our first entry into the contest… the bar is set high by Annie Bennett
