Book Ten: Shout

ShoutEver since I read Speak years ago, I have loved Laurie Halse Anderson (as many of us do).  Speak was the first novel I’d ever read that dealt with the reality and trauma of rape and didn’t use it as a tool for a horror/suspense novel. Now, it is a privilege to read her story of being a survivor of rape, as well as other personal stories from her life.  Her voice is powerful and unapologetic, and she conveys so much emotion through her poetry.

I would recommend this book to all students in the 8th grade and up, as well as parents, faculty and staff.
